Curriculum

Value Added

Value-added analysis is a statistical method used to measure schools' impact on the academic progress rates of individual students and groups of students from year-to-year. Using this growth metric, schools and districts can begin interpreting the impact of their curriculum, instruction, programs and practices on student achievement.

Measuring progress is different than measuring achievement. Achievement measures alone provide a partial picture.  Value-added information shows students' progress made in Math and Reading in grades 4-8.

Beginning in the 2005-06 school year the Ohio Department of Education and Battelle for Kids selected and trained Regional Value Added Specialists (RVAS).  Using a train-the-trainer model the RVAS trained District Value Added Specialist (DVAS) in 2006-07 and also trained Elementary/Middle School Principals and other administrators in 2007-08.

  • RVAS-Regional Value Added Specialists from Perry-Hocking ESC and Region 16
  • DVAS-District Value Added Specialists from Perry and Hocking Counties.

To view district/building Value Added Reports users must be assigned an user name and password by the superintendent or designee.
