Characteristics of Gifted Children

If you think that your child might be gifted, read through the following list of characteristics. Though all children who are gifted will not exhibit all of these, they will meet many of them.

Speaks/reads at an early age

Asks many questions, is very curious

Works well independently

Uses an advanced vocabulary for his/her age

Perseveres, sticks with tasks, projects, activities longer than most

Bores easily

Corrects others mistakes, grammar

Has a good sense of humor

Shows off, brags

Comprehends complex relationships

Strives for perfection

Is a high achiever

Is self-motivated

Does not relate well to age peers

Prefers the company of older children or adults

Resists bedtime

Prefers to work alone

Is very empathetic

Worries frequently

Wants to do it her/his way

Appears uninterested

Rejects criticism

Is oblivious to others
